Who is Molly?

Molly Harrison was a curator at the museum from 1946 to 1969, and a trailblazer in modern museum education. An author of multiple children's and adult books, Molly also wrote extensively advocating for museums as fully accessible spaces to learn - for both children and adults. Often derided as a ‘mere school teacher’, over 30 years she pioneered what we now take for granted as museum education.

The menu and design of Molly’s café, bar, and kitchen draw inspiration from her dynamic character - embodying her fortitude, boldness and creativity. The space honours her perseverance and dedication - influencing the Museum of the Home’s work to this day, with a highly regarded and growing Learning programme, welcoming all ages to come together.
