A Christmas double bill: Dick Whittington and Cinderella

Sunday 24 November | 12pm and 3pm

With a programme suitable for children from three years upwards. David, Alan and Judy will perform plays based on well-known tales.

Dick Whittington has a new script by David Powell about the poor boy who comes to London, falls in love with his master’s daughter but leaves the house when badly treated by Alderman Fitzwarren. His cat, meanwhile, travels to foreign parts on board ship and rids the country of rats and mice, so Whittington’s fortune is made, and the prediction of the church bells that he will be ‘thrice mayor of London’ comes true.

Who doesn’t know Cinderella? The archetypal story of the virtuous but downtrodden maiden whose fortunes are changed by a simple deed of kindness and charity to her unrecognised fairy godmother, involving transforming pumpkins and mice, a midnight bell and a glass slipper.

Each play lasts about 15 minutes, with a short interval between making a show of about 45 minutes in total.
