Some Women by Quen Wong: We Were Always Here documentary screenings
Join us for the screening of “Some Women” by Quen Wong, as part of Queer East: We Were Always Here, a series of queer documentaries about East and Southeast Asian women and non-binary people.
Some Women | Quen Wong
Turning the camera onto herself, Singaporean filmmaker Quen Wong draws from her experiences to disrupt the silence around anti-trans discrimination. Counting down to her wedding day, she traces her journey of finding love and community as a trans woman, sharing intimate moments with her fiancé and family. From the glory days of Bugis street to the present-day fight for queer rights in Singapore, Quen eloquently chronicles the untold stories of trans women from three different generations, posing critical questions about the survival of the LGBTQI+ community under a conservative government.

Screening as part of Queer East's We Were Always Here.
Marking this year’s LGBT+ History Month, Queer East presents a series of documentaries that explore the lives of queer Asian women and non-binary people around the world. From South Korea to Indonesia, the films reveal how personal experiences are inextricably entangled with politics, looking back at queer histories through the lens of individual and collective memories.
