Twixmas in 2005
The winter scenario for this room was co-curated with Drucilla Burrel from the Museum’s Community Authors group.
Alex, Sara, and Nadia are spending Twixmas together, joyfully queering Christmas traditions with their chosen family in a cozy celebration filled with games, festive films, and shared meals.
What's happening
The winter season can be a difficult time for LGBTQIA+ people who have to face unaccepting families. After a few misgendering incidents during phone calls with relatives, Alex, Sara and Nadia have decided to stick together for the holidays.
None of them are working during Twixmas, the days between Christmas and New Year. In this flatshare, queering Christmas is a way to redefine family traditions and create joyful moments. With their chosen family, Alex, Sara and Nadia are playing games, drinking, dressing up, wondering what to eat and napping while festive films play in the background.
