Museum of the Home and Tate jointly acquire Rebecca Solomon’s ‘A Young Teacher’

Museum of the Home and Tate acquire Rebecca Solomon’s A Young Teacher. Solomon’s iconic painting will be held equally by both organisations.

A framed painting hangs on floral-patterned wallpaper depicting a South Asian ayah—modelled by Jamaican-born Fanny Eaton—in an orange drape and white skirt, reading from a book to two white children, a toddler on her lap and an older girl leaning on the table.
Child leaning over a large collaborative artwork on the floor, adding a colourful paper creation made from craft materials; other participants are seated at tables in the background during a creative workshop.
