Discovery Garden Family Day - Museum of the Home

Join us as we launch our Discovery Garden – a new outdoor space designed for permaculture and play.

The Discovery Garden has been developed collaboratively with local schools, community partners and adventure playgrounds to be a space where children and young people can learn about nature and take part in growing new plant life. We will be running a variety of activities on this theme and encourage interest in the natural world.

Whether your feeling creative or ready to get hands on in the garden, we’ll have activities for all ages!

This event is free of charge, any donations are warmly received. Walk-up visits are welcome, but booking a ticket helps us to plan for the day.

Activities will run in the morning (10am–12pm) and afternoon (1pm–3pm), and are free to drop-in during these times.

What’s Happening

Floral Papercraft

Studio

Get creative with a floral papercraft activity. Design and decorate your own paper flowers, easy to make and perfect for taking a sprig of spring back home.

Medicinal and edible plants with Yoni Carnice

Learning Pavilion

Join Yoni Carnice, a London-based landscape architect and gardener, for a hands-on activity to learn about growing and the special importance that specific medicinal and edible plants can have for different cultures.

Plant and craft

Discovery Garden

Hackney Play Association and local play and growing space Pearson Street Adventure Playground will be running outdoor activities in the Discovery Garden. Play with Clay, blow some giant bubbles, plant a bulb to take home and grow or get involved in some spring themed Art & Craft activities on the day.

We use the term family broadly to include any form of family structure, including LGBTQIA+ families, chosen family, friends and allies.
