Project 3000: Miniature pottery
An exhibition of 3000 miniature pots created by SGW Lab, a London-based ceramics studio led by ceramics designer Yuta Segawa.
Yuta Segawa began making minature pots in earnest in 2011, a continuation of the Gustavberg artists Wilhelm Kåge, Stig Lindberg and Berndt Friberg. They created each piece with various innovations in wheel-throwing techniques and decoration. Yuta looked to develop their work into large-scale installations.
"When I started making miniature pots, I thought that because they were small, it seemed intuitive to display many of them together. It seemed to me that each pot, in a range of different shapes and colours, represented a different culture, as there is a long history of making a variety of pots in regions around the world. Combined with Morris's ideas, this also became an expression of the repetition of daily labour." - Yuta Segawa
Visit Museum of the Home for the first ever large installation of SGW Lab's minatures.
